Some of the BRAVE Analytics team along with researchers at the University of Graz cracked down on the analytical functions utilized by our OF2i® measuring devices.

What does this mean exactly?

In our BRAVE measuring devices the liquid sample containing particles is pumped through a cylindrical capillary and irradiated by a focused laser; the scattered light is then observed from the side with a camera. Depending on the focus setting, vertical and horizontal lines or diamond-shaped structures with an abundance of interference patterns are observed.

The scattering of the spherical particles is described using Mie theory, then the scattered fields are transformed from spherical to cylindrical coordinates and propagated through the cylindrical glass capillary.
